Anara is an AI workspace for science. It helps researchers in academia and industry find, understand, and synthesize the literature, then turn it into cited work, from a thesis or literature review to a regulatory report. Its research agent searches your library, the web, and over 300 million academic papers, reads the full text where available, and answers with citations to the exact passage, so you can check any claim in one click. Use it on the web, on Mac, on iPhone and iPad, inside Microsoft Word, or from AI tools like Claude and ChatGPT.
General AI tools are built for open-ended chat. Anara is built for research. It keeps a persistent library of your papers and data, searches academic literature and science databases like PubMed and ClinicalTrials.gov, and ties every claim to the passage it came from. You choose whether it answers from your files, the web, or both. It also does research work chat tools do not: it extracts the same fields from every paper in a folder into a cited table, checks a draft against its sources, and formats citations in your journal's style.
Every answer includes citations to the exact passage it relied on, in your files, a paper, or a web page, so you can verify any claim in one click. You can limit an answer to your own files, and use claim verification to check a draft against its sources. Like any AI, Anara can be wrong, which is why every claim is traceable rather than taken on trust.
It searches, reads and cites across your library, the web and academic papers. It plans multi-step tasks and asks clarifying questions when needed. It runs code for calculations and charts, creates Word documents, PowerPoint decks, Excel workbooks and images, and organizes your library (importing papers, creating folders, editing metadata) after you approve. Max plans add Workflows and Model Council.
Search over 300 million papers by topic, with filters for year, field, author, journal, citations and open access, or look up a paper by DOI, PubMed ID, arXiv ID or title. Plus and above add science databases including PubMed, bioRxiv, medRxiv, ClinicalTrials.gov, Protein Data Bank, ChEMBL and Open Targets.
Yes. Ask across a folder or your whole library, not one file at a time. Views go further: they ask the same questions of every file in a folder and put the answers in a table, with each cell cited. That is useful for screening and data extraction in systematic reviews.
Yes. In the editor you can search for and insert citations as you write, rewrite with Quick Edit, and write LaTeX math. Choose from thousands of citation styles or add your own. Export to Word, PDF, Markdown, HTML or LaTeX, and reference lists to BibTeX, RIS or CSV. The Word add-in brings Anara into Microsoft Word.
PDFs, Word documents, PowerPoint, text and RTF, spreadsheets (XLS, XLSX, XLSM, ODS, CSV), images (including GIF and WEBP), audio (MP3, M4A, WAV), video (MP4) and YouTube links, which are transcribed. You can also import papers by DOI, PubMed ID or arXiv ID. Upload size limits depend on your plan. See all file types.

On the web, the Mac app (macOS 12 or later), the iPhone and iPad app, the Microsoft Word add-in, and the Chrome extension. There is no Windows desktop app yet; Windows users can use Anara on the web. See all apps.
By default Anara picks a model for you. On Pro and above you can choose any model we offer, from OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, xAI, DeepSeek, Qwen and others. Max plans add Model Council, which compares answers across several models.
Anara is available in 32 languages, including Spanish, French, German, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Arabic, Hindi and Portuguese. The language you choose in Settings, under Preferences, sets both the interface and the language Anara replies in.
Yes. The free plan lets you upload files, chat with them, and get cited answers, with no credit card required. It includes a daily amount of AI usage.
Plus is $10, Pro is $20, Max 5x is $100 and Max 20x is $200 per seat per month. Billed yearly, they are $8, $16, $80 and $160 per seat per month. Enterprise pricing is custom; contact sales.
Plus raises your usage, lets you buy credits, takes larger uploads, and adds science databases. Pro has 4x the usage of Plus, lets you choose any model, adds OCR for scanned documents, larger uploads, and Google Drive, OneDrive and more connectors. Max adds Workflows, Model Council, uploads with no size or page limit, unlimited collaborators, and priority access at busy times. See the full comparison on the pricing page.
Same features. Max 5x includes 5 times Pro's weekly usage and Max 20x includes 20 times. Switch between them anytime in Settings, then Billing.
Chat, editing, extraction, imports, media and API requests draw from your usage allowance, and stronger models use more. A meter shows how much you have used and when it resets. On Free it refreshes daily; on paid plans it resets in full 7 days after you first use it.
Credits keep a paid workspace running after its included usage runs out. Owners and admins can buy $5 to $1,000 at a time and turn on auto-reload with a monthly cap; members can request credits from an admin. Included usage is always used first. Credits bought on the web expire 12 months after purchase; credit packs bought in the iOS app do not expire.
Work in progress finishes. New requests wait until your allowance resets, or you can add credits or upgrade to keep going.
Paid plans are billed per seat. On any paid plan you can add members to your workspace, change your seat count in Settings, and share folders so everyone works from the same sources. Enterprise adds SSO with SAML, SCIM provisioning, live sync with SharePoint and OneDrive, and a shared support channel.
We do not offer a student discount today. The free plan covers a lot of research, and Plus starts at $8 a month billed yearly.

Prices are set in US dollars. At checkout you may see and pay in your local currency.
Cancel anytime in Settings, then Billing, with no fee. You keep paid features until the end of your current billing period. If you subscribed in the iOS app, cancel in your App Store settings; deleting the app does not cancel it.
Cancelling stops your next renewal, and the date shown is when your access ends. If you were charged after cancelling, contact Support in the app with your receipt and we will look into it.
Yes. Monthly plans renew every month and yearly plans every year until you cancel. If you only need Anara for a set period, such as a thesis, choose monthly billing and cancel when you are done.
We offer a 7-day grace period from the date of your first payment. To request a refund, open Support in the app and contact us. Purchases made through the App Store are refunded by Apple.
Change your plan or billing frequency in Settings, then Billing; checkout shows any prorated charge before you confirm. If you were charged for the wrong plan or billing cycle, contact us through Support in the app within the 7-day refund window and we will make it right.
Open Settings, then Billing, and choose Manage billing to see your payment methods, invoices and receipts. For annual invoicing for an organization, contact sales.
Cancelling does not delete your library. Your files stay available on the free plan.
To change the email on your account, contact Support in the app and we will help. To delete your account, open Settings, then Account, and choose Delete under Danger zone. Cancel any subscription first; App Store subscriptions must be cancelled through Apple.
Your files are encrypted in transit and at rest, and you can delete them at any time. Anara is SOC 2 Type II and ISO 27001 certified. Read more on our security page.
