Citing in Anara
Anara offers robust citation handling to help you seamlessly integrate references into your work. We are continuously improving this feature to provide a smooth and accurate experience.
Adding Citations
You can easily find and add citations to your document using Anara’s AI citation search, accessed via the floating actions menu.
- Select Text: In the editor, highlight the text for which you need to find a citation.
- Use the Actions Menu: A floating actions menu will appear above your selection. Choose the “Find citations” option.
- Review & Add: Anara will search the internet for relevant books, research papers, and websites based on your selected text. You’ll be presented with a list of potential sources.
- Insert Citation: Select the appropriate source(s) from the list to add them as citations to your document.
Once added, citations will appear both in-text (according to your chosen Inline Reference Style) and as fully formatted references at the end of your document.
Semantic Search for Citations
Unlike traditional tools that rely on keyword matching, Anara’s citation search understands semantic meaning. It analyzes the meaning of your selected text and compares it against a vast database of academic papers, books, and articles from across the web. This approach often results in more relevant matches and can help you discover related content from different fields that you might miss with conventional keyword-based search tools.
Inline Reference Styles
You can choose your preferred style to match your writing needs or publication guidelines. Anara supports a growing list of citation formats. We currently offer 10 different citation styles, including popular ones like:
- IEEE
- Vancouver
- APA
- MLA
- Chicago
Exporting with Citations
When you export your work from Anara’s editor:
- In-line citations are correctly included and formatted when exporting to both Word (.docx) and PDF files. (Feature update: May 5, 2025)
This ensures your references are preserved accurately in your final documents.
