Connectors, conversation branching, and lots of fixes

Connectors, conversation branching, and lots of fixes

Over the past few weeks, we've focused on fixing small issues and making minor improvements. Our text editor received special attention – it's now working much more smoothly, with fixes for everything from from better handling of lists and callouts to more reliable AI editing.

Between all the polishing, we shipped two powerful small features. Connectors let you bring your tools and data directly into Anara – connect OneDrive, Zotero, Notion, and more to quickly import files without leaving the app. Just head to settings to add a connector, then access it from the sidebar plus menu to pull in your files.

We also added conversation branching so you can explore different directions in chat without losing your original thread. Click the three-dot menu under any message and select "Branch conversation" to try out alternative approaches while keeping your main discussion intact.

Improvements

  • If collapsed, the left sidebar now expands when you hover over the left side of the screen, making navigation faster without requiring a click.
  • Added a new setting to enable or disable spellcheck in the editor, giving you control over when spelling assistance appears while writing.
  • The word count setting is now more prominently displayed in the input area, making it easier to control response length without diving into settings menus.
  • The citation menu now displays "No citations found" when searches return no results, and overall menu functionality has been improved for a smoother experience.
  • Reduced excessive spacing between items in todo lists for a more compact and readable layout.
  • You can now view document annotations directly in shared folders without needing to open each file individually.
  • Attachments now support drag-and-drop directly into the input area, with improved loading indicators to eliminate delays when adding files or sending messages with attachments.
  • Column titles now remain visible when resizing columns to very small widths, with text truncating gracefully instead of disappearing.
  • Significantly improved chat response times, making conversations faster across initial messages, tool interactions, and final responses.
  • Improved chat message formatting with cleaner, more consistent text styling that automatically adjusts between compact and full-width chat views.
  • Updated citation highlights to use consistent brand colors for better visual cohesion across the interface.

Fixes

  • Fixed issues with chat loading processing that could cause interruptions or failures during loading in some cases.
  • Fixed an issue where deleting a chat title would leave it blank instead of reverting to "Untitled".
  • Fixed an issue where the onboarding tour tooltips were displaying incorrectly, ensuring new users can properly navigate through the product introduction.
  • Fixed an issue where flashcard fill-in-the-blank exercises with multiple input fields were not accepting answers in the correct format.
  • Fixed an issue where the file converter service was unavailable, preventing document uploads and conversions from working properly.
  • Fixed text editor bubble menu visibility issues, including missing background and click responsiveness problems.
  • Fixed an issue where attachments weren't displayed when editing messages that contain a single attachment.
  • Fixed dropdown menus to no longer show destructive styling on delete options, and replaced single-option filter dropdowns with direct action buttons for a cleaner interface.
  • Fixed an issue where long titles would overflow beyond their column boundaries in the table when hovering over them.
  • Fixed an issue where the @Complete Form agent was not functioning properly, restoring the ability to automatically complete forms.
  • Fixed an issue where Mendeley reference imports would fail in certain cases, ensuring reliable import of your reference library.
  • Fixed an issue where selecting a citation in the library menu would incorrectly highlight all citations with the same name instead of just the selected one.
  • Fixed an issue where annotation filters were not working properly, allowing you to effectively filter and find the annotations you need.
  • Fixed an issue where deleting a note would leave you on the deleted note's page instead of returning you to the notes list.
  • Fixed an issue where lists inside callouts in the editor were not displaying with the correct color scheme.
  • Fixed an issue where dragging images within the editor incorrectly activated the import dropzone overlay.
  • Fixed an issue where the date picker would incorrectly close when clicking within the filter menu, allowing you to select dates without interruption.
  • Fixed an app crash that occurred when transcript data was unavailable for certain recordings.
  • Fixed an issue where unsharing a sub folder incorrectly moved it out of its parent folder instead of simply removing the share.
  • Fixed an issue where pages with many references would load slowly due to downloading all summaries at once, significantly improving page load times for reference-heavy documents.
  • Fixed an issue where the cursor could become stuck on lies with bullet points in the editor, preventing normal text editing.
  • Fixed an issue where citations were being inserted at incorrect locations in notes instead of directly after the highlighted text.
  • Fixed an issue where renaming a document with an empty name would set it to "null" instead of "untitled".
  • Fixed arrow key navigation in the editor slash command menu to properly cycle through menu options instead of unexpectedly jumping to nearby content blocks.
  • Fixed an issue where using the ++ command followed by undo could sometimes cause content loss in the editor.
