Editable table, improved notes, sharing and much more

This release introduces some of our most requested features, with major improvements to editing, collaboration, and content creation that make Anara much more powerful.
Table and right sidebar fields are now fully editable. It works just the same way as any spreadsheet or form input — just click to edit.
With this change we also introduced a new ‘Display’ settings menu to the Author column that allows you to toggle between a list of all authors or the Latin “et. al” abbreviation.
We added AI image generation in Chat with the new @Create Image
agent. Use it to create visual content such as flowcharts, organizational diagrams, mind maps, and infographics.
Folder sharing is finally here — click the three-dot menu next to any folder to share with individual collaborators outside your workspace or with your entire team.
Plus, we completely revamped the text editor with an updated floating formatting menu, new elements like toggles, tables and callouts, and significantly improved performance across the board.
Improvements
- Improved citation highlighting to show more precise, focused excerpts when referencing source material, making it easier to quickly find the specific information being referenced.
- Faster document imports, reducing wait times when uploading PDFs, importing from URLs, or connecting integrations.
- Significantly improved export options in notes. When you export to PDF, Word, or LaTeX from the editor, your formatting will be much more reliably maintained.
- Improved the accuracy of tool selection in chat conversations, resulting in more relevant and helpful responses to your questions.
- Citations now provide visual feedback when clicked, making it clearer when the referenced content is already visible on screen.
- @mentions are now preserved when copying and pasting text between chat inputs, making it easier to reference users and maintain context in conversations.
- Image descriptions extracted from files are now automatically truncated to prevent excessively long descriptions from cluttering the interface.
- Improved the mobile layout of the home page for better readability and visual consistency.
- Tables in the notes section now scroll horizontally when content exceeds the available width, eliminating the need to expand the entire notes panel to view wide tables.
- Added a download button for images, making it easy to save images directly to your device.
- Improved markdown rendering during real-time content generation for smoother, more accurate formatting as text streams in.
- Expanded file attachment support in the home input to accept all document types, not just previously supported formats.
- The floating format menu in the editor now automatically adjusts to different screen sizes, moving items into a "More" dropdown when space is limited.
- Added a "Getting Started" checklist to help new users discover and explore key features during onboarding.
- Removed the audio recording feature from Anara - existing recordings remain accessible, but new recordings can no longer be created.
- Added a setting to control whether notes are included when searching libraries and folders in chat, giving you more control over what content the AI uses for responses.
Fixes
- Fixed an issue where some older notes appeared blank after the editor update, ensuring all existing notes now display correctly regardless of when they were created.
- Fixed an issue where clicking on a mention suggestion would incorrectly close the mention tool instead of inserting the selected mention.
- Fixed an issue where the chat assistant provided incorrect instructions for enabling settings, ensuring users now receive accurate guidance when configuring their preferences.
- Fixed an issue where conversations could fail due to using an outdated AI model that was no longer available.
- Fixed the placement of periods in in-text citations to appear after the citation rather than before, following standard academic formatting conventions.
- Fixed an issue where the sidebar remained open after creating a new chat or note on mobile devices, improving navigation on smaller screens.
- Fixed an issue where the flashcard explanation screen would turn black, preventing users from viewing the answer.
- Fixed an issue where the model incorrectly claimed it couldn't parse or access URLs when it actually could.
- Fixed an issue where imports would get stuck in an infinite loading state when importing documents via @ mentions.
- Fixed an issue where clicking on blog tags would unexpectedly jump to the top of the page, allowing for smoother navigation when filtering blog content by tags.
- Fixed an issue where large text files (over 5MB) would sometimes fail to import.
- Fixed an issue where arXiv papers imported via DOI would save as web links instead of automatically fetching the PDF document.
- Fixed citation formatting in the right sidebar to properly display "et al." when there are multiple authors, making references more readable and consistent with academic standards.
